I have to say all 4 of my characters are female as I just can't stand any of the male models.

Agreed
Personally I have 2 male and 2 female characters. With each I just cycled through the male and female models and just picked the one I thought looked best.

Well... this is a role playing game so I try to make a character as close to me as possible and I'm a guy so I play as guy characters only, but I dont care if other people play as girl characters. It's just a little weird.

 We re the exactly the same then.
For some reason, to me, it feels appriorate that spellcasters are female and melee fighters are male. However for the sake of variety I made my monk a male.
If we could have 6 slots, I'd make my warrior a male and my mesmer a female.

I work around woman so maybe that could be it and I have fooled some into thinking that i was one.I would say that aall sexs in GW look fine except it would be nice to see male Monks have longer or more hair.

i always played male toons in all my mmos that I've touched. just doesn't feel right playing a female. That being said, I didn't like the look of the male monk. Hence I tried a female monk instead.
that being said, i get easily amused everytime someone refers me to as "she" and I just correct them gently.
p.s. PVP toons with funny names and female genders are kinda funny imo.

I have 2 female and 2 male characters. The females I have are a necro and a mesmer. I've always liked the female necro armor, and I just liked the models for the female mesmer better than the male. I've usually liked playing with female characters in most of the RPGs I play. I always used one in KoToR, because I liked to shoot Carth down every chance I got.

I just started playing as a female ranger because I assumed more people would be choosing male characters for their "ZOMG!!111! TEH LEGOLAS!!" characters; obviously, I was a "wewt... zon-age" person. I didn't notice how bad male character models looked until much later. If someone calls my character a she, i won't bother correcting them because the IG character is actually a girl, but when they are referring to me as a person, I'll correct them.

Bleh, this topic was beaten to death on GWOnline.com.
In a nutshell, the debate boiled down to people could see the lines separating avatar from player, vs. those who wanted to role play in their character's shoes. Neither camp is right nor wrong... it's just a matter of play style and preference. There's no need to call names nor preach to the other side.

I think what my reasons are, are probably the same as a lot of others. I'm a guy, I love girls, I could look at them all day. I married one I have nothing to prove, do not feel I need to go around as some muscle bound warrior or what not. I do not like to stare at the back of some male all day. I get far more enjoyment playing a third person view game if I control a female. She is a lot easier on the eyes then a male is.
Its not because I'm playing out my female emotions or what have you. But if I was a girl, I'd be a lesbian.

As many have stated, the male avatars are mostly ugly, all are too buff for my taste, with the exception of the necromancer and perhaps the ranger.
Male warrior, now that's something I wouldn't touch (in any way)

1. The male ele wasn't as appealing as the female ele. (and the male ele dance sucks, imo) I also like the thought a female ele that can dish out a load of high damage spells a la Cynn.
2. female monk dance was cool, and the hairstyle was cute (the males is okay too, but I have a female monk) (this is my main character)
3. Male warrior, largest scale body - just cuz I thought that would be fitting, Conan style.
4. Male ranger, better dance. (this character is often deleted for a pvp slot, sigh)
So I guess I have 2/4 female characters.
EDIT: and the male necromancer looks wimpy, imho. look how he hunches over. the female necro is pretty fly on the otherhand. if i could do it over again, I would make a female warrior instead, but keep the male ranger.

1. Male warriors are fat.
2. Female elementalists are just so much better than male ones.
3. Female necros do the thriller, male necros are retarded punk-ass avatars who should die, and then die again.
4. Female rangers bounce when they fire their bow!
I play a male Ranger, a male Monk, a female Monk, and a female Necro, for the record.

This thread has reminded me why I can't be friends wtih most gamers in real life... way too many people getting... "excited" over animated boobs.
I won't even get into my rant about the fact you stare are your characters butts
If you're going to play girls, I would at least you have a reason better than "I LIEK TO STARE AT HER WHILE SHE DANCES IN HER UNDERWEARS HAR HAR BOOBS BOUNCE"
Strangely enough, it would seem that those I know in real life that play as females most of the time are the same guys that don't get dates...coincidence?
